The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...

northwestern Kennebec County in south central Maine...

southeastern Somerset County in west central Maine...

southeastern Franklin County in western Maine...

* until 515 PM EDT.

* At 321 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to

thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in

the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Farmington, Fairfield, Skowhegan, Pittsfield, Oakland, Madison,

Clinton, Belgrade, Norridgewock, Anson, Canaan, Hartland,

Chesterville, Cornville, Athens, Harmony, Palmyra, Industry,

Smithfield and Rome.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.

... A strong thunderstorm will affect east central Kennebec and west

central Waldo counties...

At 317 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over China, or 7

miles southeast of Waterville, moving east at 5 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph and penny size hail are possible with this

storm.

China, Palermo, Benton, Albion, Freedom, Vassalboro, Montville and

Winslow.
