Winter Storm Warning Statement as of 3:57 am EDT on March 14, 2015
Winter Storm Warning in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to
5 PM EDT Sunday...
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy wet snow... which is in effect from 5 PM this
afternoon to 5 PM EDT Sunday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer
in effect.
* Hazard types... snow... possibly heavy and wet for time.
* Accumulations... 6 to 10 inches of snow.
* Timing... light intermittent snow... possibly mixed with
freezing rain and sleet at times on Saturday... will change
back to all snow Saturday night and may become heavy at times
late Saturday night into the day on Sunday.
* Impacts... heavy wet snow will cause slick travel and could
cause scattered power outages.
* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
* Visibilities... will be 1/2 mile or less in heavier snow bands.
* Temperatures... in the upper 20s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel keep an extra flashlight
food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
