Thursday Morning

It is a very soggy morning here in Augusta Maine. We are expecting our temps to reach the upper 50's to perhaps the mid 60's. We will end up with a partly sunny, very seasonal day.

This morning's readings are:

a relative humidity of 97% with a Dew Point of 51.0ºF.

The temperature is 52.2ºF, with a wind chill of 48.1ºF at this time.

The wind velocity is between 7.0 mph and 10.0 mph out of the North Northeast. Winds might get up to 15 mph today.

Our Barometric pressure is 29.56 and falling.

There was rainfall yesterday of slightly over 2 inches with none in today's forecast after the morning drizzel ends.

In my effort to keep the level of anxiety and terror at a sleepless level for this month, meaning the elections, I continue yesterday's thread.  To help you deal with elected officials and their "wanna-be" opponents during the "I'm better than he is" phase of electioneering, you may wish to keep this handy guide to political terms and philosophy in a place where you can have easy access to it.

Directly from the "Devil's Dictionary" by Ambrose Bierce:

DELIBERATION, n.  The act of examining one's bread to determine which

side it is buttered on.

DEPENDENT, adj.  Reliant upon another's generosity for the support

which you are not in a position to exact from his fears.

DISCUSSION, n.  A method of confirming others in their errors.

DISOBEDIENCE, n.  The silver lining to the cloud of servitude.

DISOBEY, v.t.  To celebrate with an appropriate ceremony the maturity

of a command.

Mediocrity is always more achievable

And from other sources, to help you define debates when they deteriorate to the loftiness of moralizing:

SIN - Anything the other fellow enjoys and you don't.

VISE - Anything you enjoy that is bad for you.

CONSCIENCE - That which hurts when everything else feels so good.

"When those "on high" look into the valley, they see small things. Those of us in the valley see things in their true perspective."

And from Mark Twain:

Nothing requires reform more than "the other guy's" policies.
