What do you think of solar generators in place of your old-fashioned gas generator?

Is buying a solar generator worth it?

Is Buying a Solar-Powered Generator Worth It? (fool.com)

Like most things in life the answer is “That depends.”

I live in Maine and I’m not sold on a solar generator to replace my gas generator yet.

Once in a while the power goes out when the sun is out, but the cost of a solar generator compared to the gas powered is only one factor.

Read the article, one of many you can find online, and decide things for yourself.

If you want to know what I think, I’m not convinced that I want to rely on a solar generator to give me enough juice to keep my plumbing from freezing when we have an extended power outage. How often does an extended outage happen here? It only has to happen once and last long enough for my pipes to freeze and cost me a fortune in home repairs to matter. That’s how often.
