An area of heavy snow will affect Waldo...southern Oxford...
Androscoggin...southeastern Somerset...southeastern Franklin...
Kennebec...Knox...York...Lincoln...Cumberland...Sagadahoc...
southeastern Coos...northern Strafford and eastern Carroll
Counties...
At 3:39 PM EST...A band of heavy snow was along a line extending from
16 miles southeast of Bar Harbor to Kittery...and moving southeast
at 30 MPH. This band of heavy snow will continue to sink south and
head out to sea over the next hour as snow intensity gradually
tapers off after that time.
Locations impacted include...
Portland, Lewiston, South Portland, Biddeford, Brunswick, Augusta,
Westbrook, Waterville, Conway, Kittery, Bath, Farmington, Rockland,
Belfast, Fairfield, Gardiner, Bridgton, Camden, Fryeburg and Mechanic
Falls.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 295 between mile markers 1 and 51.
Interstate 95 between mile markers 4 and 157.
Interstate 95 near mile marker 158.
This also includes...
Sebago Lake, Mount Chocorua, Speckled Mountain, Pleasant Mountain,
and Burnt Meadow Mountains.
Peaks Island, Long Island, Cushing Island, Cousins Island, and
Bailey Island.
* Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a half mile in this
area of heavy snow.
* Sudden and brief snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are
possible in this area of heavy snow.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
