Fog, hot, humid a solar storm due today and how to make a Brandy Slush

Good Morning Augusta

Right now we’re under a dense fog advisory so drive accordingly.

Also, we’re going to be hit by a solar storm sometime today – so if your power flickers or sat-coms and cell phones get wonky, that’s why.

This morning we have fog followed by a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. High 84ºF. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight we’ll have some clouds and a low near 60ºF. Winds light and variable.

The readings from my weather instruments are:

Humidity is 97%, the dew point is 62ºF and outside it’s  62.4ºF.

The wind direction is  West Southwest between 0.0 MPH and 0.1 MPH, with a heat index of 62ºF.

The Relative pressure is 29.74, the Absolute pressure is 29.54 and rising with a weather graphic indicating sun.

The UV rating is 1 out of 16, Sunrise is 5:10 a.m. Sunset is 8:19 P.M. Moon rise is xx:xx a.m., Moon set is 1:49 p.m., and the moon phase is waning gibbous being 54% illuminated.

Visibility is 0.2 Miles / 0.4 kilometers with thick fog out there.

We didn’t receive any rain here over the past 24 hours.

Space Weather for this morning is:

Today’s Solar flux is 92, the solar wind speed is 500 Kilometers per second and the chance of a solar storm is 55%.

Back by popular demand is a real hot weather favorite.  Don’t overdo it though, but enjoy.

BRANDY SLUSH

Makes 32 servings

2 cups boiling Water

4 regular size Tea bags

2 cups Sugar

7 cups Water

2 (12 oz) cans frozen Lemonade concentrate, thawed and undiluted

2 (12 oz) cans frozen Orange juice concentrate, thawed and undiluted

2 cups Brandy

Lemon-lime carbonated beverage

Pour 2 cups boiling water over tea bags, cover and steep 5 minutes.  Remove tea bags, squeezing gently. Set tea aside to cool.  Combine sugar and 7 cups water in a saucepan, bring to a boil, and let boil until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.  Combine tea, sugar mixture, lemonade concentrate, orange juice concentrate, and brandy in a large freezer proof container, stirring well.  Freeze until firm.  To serve, spoon 1/2 cup mixture into each glass, and add 1/4 cup Lemon-Lime beverage, stir until slushy. Re-freeze remainder of mixture, use as needed.
