Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 3:35 am EST on December 5, 2014
Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening to
6 PM EST Saturday...
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow... sleet... and freezing rain... which is in
effect from 9 PM this evening to 6 PM EST Saturday.
* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches... along with
up to one quarter of an inch of ice.
* Timing... precipitation will begin as snow late Friday night and
transition to sleet... then freezing rain by Saturday morning.
Temperatures may rise above freezing Saturday afternoon with
precipitation changing to rain.
* Impacts... freezing rain will cause ice to form on exposed
surfaces including roads. Cold temperatures in advance of the
precipitation will make ice accretion on roadways more
efficient. Driving conditions will be very slick Saturday
morning. Ice accumulation on trees will cause limbs to sag and
may lead to scattered power outages.
* Temperatures... in the 20s... rising into the low 30s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
