Statement as of 7:36 am EST on January 16, 2013
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight EST
tonight.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until
midnight EST tonight.
* Locations... the Maine foothills eastward to central Maine and
the mid coast.
* Hazard types... snow. Rain is likely to mix in with the snow on
the immediate coast. There is a low probability of some light
freezing drizzle this evening when the snow comes to an end.
* Accumulations... 3 to 6 inches of snow... with highest amounts
likely just inland from the mid coast. A few locally higher
amounts possible.
* Timing... snow will continue this morning and continue through
much of the afternoon hours. The snow will come to an end this
evening.
* Impacts... slippery roadways and reduced visibilities to less
than a half mile at times.
* Winds... northeast up to 5 mph.
* Temperatures... in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
* Visibilities... less than a half mile at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
