Statement as of 12:01 PM EST on January 17, 2013
Snow squalls will impact parts of central New Hampshire and
western Maine through 100 PM EST.
At 1158 am EST National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of snow squalls centered along a line extending from 3 miles
north of Augusta to 7 miles southwest of Tuftonboro... or along a
line extending from 3 miles north of Augusta to 9 miles east of
Meredith... moving southeast at 30 mph. These snow squalls will
affect areas in and around White Lake State Park... West
Ossipee... Winthrop... Wayne... Turner... Sidney... Readfield...
Porter... Poland and Oxford through 100 PM EST.
Localized brief whiteout conditions are possible with any snow
squall... with visibilities dropping to near a quarter mile in heavy
snow along with west to northwest wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph.
The squalls should not last more than 30 minutes at any given
location but could drop a quick half inch of snow. Falling
temperatures will also make for slippery Road conditions as any
melted snow re-freezes. Motorists are urged to use caution and be on
the lookout for rapidly deteriorating conditions.
