Below is some folk lore strictly for kids having to do with snowfall amounts and school snow days. Hey, this stuff is important!

Snow storm folk lore for kids who live where it snows during the winter time:

the snow day ritual is this:

On the night before a potential snowstorm, if you wear your PJs inside out and put a spoon under your pillow, you will have a day off from school the next day. The bigger the spoon, the deeper the snow.

Also, to be sure of the snow day, you should flush one ice cube down the toilet for every inch of snow that you want to fall. This should be done the night before and just before bed while wearing your PJ's. It has been reported that this ritual is most effective when done either with the bathroom lights off or by the light of a night light plugged into the bathroom sink electric outlet (ya know, where your father plugs is electric razor in).

Important note: If the night light has a Santa head or Santa figure on it, it's a cinch!
