Wind chill watch in effect from Thursday evening through
Friday morning...
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 7 am Thursday to 10
am EST Friday. A wind chill watch has also been issued. This wind
chill watch is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday
morning.
* Hazard types... snow and cold.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches.
* Timing... light snow will overspread western Maine Thursday
morning and continue through early Friday morning.
* Impacts... slippery snow covered roadways and sharply reduced
visibilities at times.
* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
* Temperatures... 11 below to 1 above zero.
* Visibilities... one half mile or less at times.
* Wind chill readings... as low as 34 below.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
A wind chill watch means the there is the potential for a
combination of very cold air and strong winds to create
dangerously low wind chill values. Monitor the latest forecasts
and warnings for updates on this situation.
