We had a dusting of snow yesterday with a bit of rain mixed in, but not enough to be measurable. We've hit that time of year when that will happen, so if you haven't had your snow tires put on, or had them checked, you'd better get it done.

It is that time of year when your "winter driving kit" should be in the back seat or trunk of your car.

Make sure you have the car tuned up, that should be common sense, and the correct mix of anti-freeze, where applicable, in your radiator,

Also, a spare hat, gloves, blanket or sleeping bag if you drive long distances up in or around the County. You don't know how long you're going to be stuck there if the car decides to quit.

Have your preferred emergency lighting ready to hand too. There is nothing worse than being nose down in a ditch or snowbank on a curve or bend in a road with no way to warn other drivers that you're stuck there.

And, perhaps at the top of your list, DO NOT leave home without a charged cell phone!! How are you going to call for help if you don't have a phone to do it with.

In short, use your head, and prepare for everything that is horse sense.
