Statement as of 3:46 am EST on February 24, 2012

Winter Weather Advisory now in effect from 5 PM this afternoon

to 4 am EST Saturday

*locations... interior coastal sections of Maine.

* Hazard types... mixed precipitation.

* Accumulations... 2 to 5 inches of snow... the highest

accumulations are expected at higher elevations.

* Timing... light snow and rain should overspread the region this

morning. A light rain... snow... sleet mix should continue for the

balance of the day... then turn over to all snow this evening before

ending tonight.

* Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery this

evening.

* Winds... east 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

* Temperatures... in the 30s.

*Precautionary/preparedness actions...

*A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow

will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow

covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while

driving.
