Snowy and overcast

Good Morning Augusta.

This morning it is mostly cloudy, then clear. High of 41F. Winds from the WNW at 5-10 mph.

Tonight it will be partly cloudy, low of 21F. Winds from the WNW at 5-10 mph.

The readings outside right now, taken from my own weather instruments:

a relative humidity of 75% with a Dew Point of 26.6ºF.

The temperature is 33.8ºF with no wind chill.

The wind velocity right now is between  3.8 mph and 6.9 mph from the West Southwest, shifting to the West Northwest later today.

Our Barometric pressure is 29.76 and falling. The weather graphic indicates rain.

We had precipitation in the past 24 hours of 0.4 inches, and we have a light snowfall at this time.

Visibility is 10.0 miles with some clouds and overcast down to 6,000 feet.

From the weather folk lore web site – with the weather starting to break, I thought the following weather rhymes might be interesting. I've added a comment after some of them to fit Maine.

January brings the snow, Makes our feet and fingers glow. (If your extremeties glow, you need new gloves and boots)

February brings the rain, Thaws the frozen lake again. (Keep your snowmobiles off the lake!)

When March blows it's horn,

your barn will be filled with hay and corn. (Whoever wrote that doesn't farm up here)

March brings breezes sharp and chill, Shakes the dancing daffodil. (Excellent kite-flying days)

April brings the primrose sweet, Scatters daisies at our feet. (They mean rain here folks, don't get all romantic-eyed)

May brings flocks of pretty lambs, Sporting round their fleecy dams. (Yeah, and vet bills too)

June brings tulips, lilies, roses, Fills the children's hands with posies. (After all that work to grow them, the kids did what?)

Hot July brings thunder-showers, Apricots, and gilly-flowers. (…and the usual Red Sox adventures)

August brings the sheaves of corn; Then the harvest home is borne. (…and back-to-school shopping)
