You know what a RAIL GUN is, right? Well, if you don’t know, ask one of your teenagers. They’ll know.

So why not have them build one this summer?

One of the contests I’ve seen this used for involves one of those old-style (cheap) balsa wood gliders – the ones with a metal nose tip.

The metal on the nose is the metal grabbed by the magnets and you now have a catapult. Who’s gun shoots the plane the farthest?

You’ll need to make a non-magnetic slide for the plane to rest on over the gun, but it’ll work.

Maybe your teen can get a government grant to develop it?
