...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 AM EDT THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Maine, including
the following counties, in south central Maine, Kennebec and
Sagadahoc. In southwest Maine, Androscoggin, Cumberland and York.
* WHEN...Until 930 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring due to
recent rain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 559 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 1
and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Minor flooding could disrupt the morning commute. Plan extra
time for travel this morning.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portland, Lewiston, South Portland, Auburn, Biddeford,
Brunswick, Westbrook, Gardiner, Mechanic Falls and Topsham.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
