Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of northern Kennebec, eastern Oxford, northwestern Waldo, southeastern Somerset and southeastern Franklin Counties through 1:30 PM EDT.

At 12:33 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along

a line extending from near Kingsbury Plantation to 6 miles east of

Jay. Movement was east at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around

unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is

possible.

Locations impacted include...

Waterville, Farmington, Fairfield, Oakland, Skowhegan, Pittsfield,

Madison, Jay, China, Clinton, Belgrade, Livermore Falls, Dixfield,

Canton, Bingham, Norridgewock, Wilton, Unity, Benton and Anson.

This includes Interstate 95 between mile markers 121 and 157.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

If on or near a lake get out of the water and move indoors or inside

a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the

parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough

to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be

caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until

these storms pass.
