#MEwx Flood Watch in effect for Sunday

Flood Watch

National Weather Service Gray ME

11:20 AM EDT Sat Jul 15 2023

Multiple rounds of torrential showers are anticipated Sunday through Sunday night. There is increasing confidence that locally considerable impacts are possible for areas with repeating

activity. Highest threat areas are those that have been recently affected by heavy rain as well as highly sloped, fast-responding small streams in the mountains.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT.

* WHAT...Flash floods caused by multiple rounds of torrential downpours.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, and west central Maine, including the following areas, in Maine, Central Interior Cumberland. In south central Maine, Coastal Waldo, Interior Waldo,

Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Southern Somerset. In

southwest Maine, Androscoggin, Coastal Cumberland and Coastal York. In west central Maine, Central Somerset.

* WHEN...From Sunday morning through late Sunday night.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,

creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- Multiple rounds of torrential rainfall are expected.

Saturated soils from recent rainfall will support rapid runoff and lead to flash flooding. Considerable impacts are possible where storms repeat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you are in a flood prone area, prepare for rapid onset flooding,

with minimum time to react.
