This morning it is raining with a slight chance of thunderstorms but it will shower. Locally heavy rainfall is possible this afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s with East winds around 10 mph gusting to 25 mph. 

Tonight it will be rainy with a chance of thunderstorms and showers. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the evening. Lows in the lower 50s. North winds 10 to 15 mph gusting to 35 mph.

The  wind is Northeast between  2.5 MPH and 4.0 MPH.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH LATE

TONIGHT.

WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Maine, including the following areas,

Androscoggin, Central Interior Cumberland, Central Somerset,

Coastal Cumberland, Coastal Waldo, Interior Cumberland Highlands,

Interior Waldo, Interior York, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Northern

Franklin, Northern Oxford, Sagadahoc, Southern Franklin, Southern

Oxford and Southern Somerset. Portions of New Hampshire, including

the following areas, Belknap, Eastern Hillsborough, Merrimack,

Northern Carroll, Northern Coos, Northern Grafton, Southern

Carroll, Southern Coos, Southern Grafton and Western And Central

Hillsborough.

* WHEN...From 11 AM EDT this morning through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Low pressure will bring periods of heavy rain and some

thunderstorms to the forecast area today. Excessive runoff may

result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying

and flood-prone locations. Smaller creeks and streams may rise out

of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban

areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- A general 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected to fall today.

Highest amounts are expected in the mountains. However, south

of the mountains, slower moving showers and thunderstorms may

develop and also pose a risk for flash flooding, especially

in normally prone urban areas. Hikers and campers should keep

a close eye on the weather and be alert to any subsequent

statements or warnings.
