Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southern Kennebec
County through 500 PM EDT...
At 421 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms near
Litchfield, or 7 miles west of Gardiner. This storm was nearly
stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Augusta, Gardiner, China, Litchfield, Farmingdale, Manchester,
Hallowell, Winthrop, Chelsea, Windsor, Monmouth, West Gardiner,
Randolph, Vassalboro and Wales.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 295 near mile marker 51.
Interstate 95 between mile markers 100 and 113.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
