#MEwx Snow ending later, temps moderating and Bouellabise for dinner

The winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11 this morning and it’s posted  here in the post just before this one.

This morning we have snow ending later this morning. Total snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches. Highs in the lower 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight we’ll have partly cloudy skies this evening, then clearing. Lows around 10°F. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

The readings from my weather instruments are:

The Wind chill is 27.5°F, Dew Point is 30.6°F, Humidity is 95% and the outdoor temperature is 31.8°F.

The wind direction is North between 6.0 MPH and 7.9 MPH.

The Relative pressure is 29.63, the Absolute pressure is 29.43 and falling with a weather graphic indicating snow.

Visibility is 0.2 miles / 0.4 Kilometers with clouds above this mess somewhere.

The UV rating is 0 out of 16, Sunrise is 6:11 A.M., Sunset is 5:30 P.M., Moonrise is 5:30 A.M., Moonset is 3:35 P.M. and the moon phase is waning crescent.

We’ve received roughly 6.5 inches of snow here over the past 24 hours.

Let’s try something a bit more “high brow” for dinner tonight. Ya’ know, this is really delicious.

BOUILLABAISE

Serves 12 to 15

 

2 large onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

2 tbsp flour

2 tbsp butter

2 cups tomato pulp

2 cups water

8 cloves

3 bay leaves

1 ½ tsp curry powder

½ cup sherry

dash of tabasco sauce

1 tsp salt

4 lbs fish fillets (red snapper and redfish)

1 ½ quarts boiling water

½ lb mushrooms, sliced hot buttered toast

 

Sauté onions, garlic, and flour in butter; add tomato, 2 cups water, 4 cloves, bay leaves, curry powder, ¼ cup sherry and tabasco; simmer 30 minutes; add salt.  Add fish and remaining cloves and sherry to boiling water; simmer 15 minutes.  Add mushrooms and sauce; simmer 5 minutes. Place toast on large platter, add fish, and pour sauce over fish.
