National Weather Service Gray ME

2:59 AM EST Sat Jan 21 2023

WIDESPREAD MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY.

The next system in the ongoing active weather pattern is forecast to pass through southern New England Sunday night before exiting through the Gulf of Maine Sunday on Monday. This will bring another round of snowfall to the region with a cold rain more likely toward

southern and coastal areas, although snow is possible before a transition to rain. Heaviest snowfall rates are expected to be Monday morning into mid-day, with travel impacts expected primarily

for the morning commute. Snow may be wet and sticky, especially near the rain-snow line, which may increase power outage risk. Power  outage risk increases further as winds turn gusty out of the

northwest behind the storm system on Monday.

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations greater than 6 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, and western Maine. Portions of central, northern, and southern New Hampshire.

* WHEN...Snow from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon. Wind

impacts center on Monday.

* IMPACTS...Periods of moderate and heavy snow may combine with low

visibility to create dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous

conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Wet and sticky

snow combined with gusty winds may lead to power outages.
