FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM EST THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a
* Flood Watch for portions of south central Maine and west central
Maine, including the following areas, in south central Maine,
Coastal Waldo, Interior Waldo, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln and
Southern Somerset. In west central Maine, Central Somerset.
* From 7 PM EST this evening through Tuesday afternoon.
* Heavy rainfall of up to 2 to 3 inches is expected tonight into
Tuesday. Localized rainfall may approach 4 inches over the
immediate coast and in the higher terrain, especially in the
southeast-facing slopes of the White Mountains and the western
Maine mountains. Higher rainfall rates and totals may occur in any
thunderstorms that are able to develop.
* Significant rises are expected on rivers with minor flooding
possible on smaller brooks and streams, especially in headwaters
regions. Minor flooding is also possible in low-lying or other
poorly drained areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
