Strong thunderstorms will impact Waldo County and Kennebec County
through 1215 PM EDT...
At 1130 am EDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
strong thunderstorm centered along a line extending from 6 miles
northeast of Troy to Freedom to 4 miles southwest of Freedom to
Palermo to 15 miles southwest of Palermo... or along a line extending
from 9 miles southeast of Newport to 2 miles south of Thorndike to 7
miles southwest of Thorndike to 12 miles southeast of Waterville to 2
miles east of Augusta... moving northeast at 50 mph. This strong
thunderstorm will affect areas in and around Troy... Thorndike...
Freedom... Knox... Palermo... Jackson... Monroe... Brooks... Lake St.
George State Park and Montville through 1215 PM EDT.
Heavy rainfall can be expected... with local ponding in streets and
low-lying areas.
If you are outdoors and storms approach your location... move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember... lightning can strike more than 5
miles away from the parent thunderstorm.
