Statement as of 3:36 am EST on November 7, 2012
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to
8 am EST Thursday...
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for mixed precipitation... which is in effect from 6 PM
this evening to 8 am EST Thursday.
- Locations... southern and central New Hampshire as well as much
of the coastal plain of Maine to the foothills.
* Hazard types... snow... sleet... and freezing rain.
* Accumulations... 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet. Up to a tenth
of an inch of ice possible.
* Timing... a mixture of precipitation... possibly all snow... will
overspread the advised area from south to north very late this
afternoon or early evening and continue overnight. Much of the
precipitation is expected to be light. However... there may be a
few bursts of heavier precipitation this evening. The
precipitation will be wind blown as well.
* Impacts... locally slippery conditions on roadways. Some ice
accretion on trees and power lines.
* Winds... north 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
