Augusta, Maine Weather

Happy Haloween. It is cold and frozen up here in Augusta Maine. It was in the high 20's this morning when I got up to make the coffee. Today's highs are expected to be in the 40's and light and variable winds, with the same going into this evening. Tonight's lows will be in the 20's. The readings outside right now are: a relative humidity of 86% with a Dew Point of 29.7ºF. The temperature is 29.7ºF, with no wind chill to speak of. The wind velocity is presently between 0.8 mph and 1.7 mph out of the West Southwest. Our Barometric pressure is 30.26 and rising. Snowfall totals for yesterday's storm were ony about 4 inches here. Other locations within 20 miles of Augusta received upwards of 17 inches. We here in Augusta got lucky. Winter Storm Warning Statement as of 4:15 PM EDT on October 29, 2011 Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 8 PM this evening to 2 PM EDT Sunday... locations... central and northern New Hampshire as well as interior southern and central Maine ... including the western Maine mountains. Hazard types... heavy wet snow. Accumulations... 5 to 9 inches of snow. Timing... rain or snow will begin in the area around sunset. Any rain will change to wet snow during the evening hours. The precipitation is expected to start as all snow in the higher elevations. The heaviest snowfall is expected to fall overnight into early Sunday morning. The snow will diminish intensity early Sunday morning... and should end by midday. Impacts... tree damage and power outages from heavy wet snow and wind.
