Recipes

 

This recipe collection is a collection of what you can do in your home using basic household ingredients and natural substances in your home. Use these

recipes as suggestions and guidelines that you can change or add to for different items that you are cleaning in your own home. Be sure never to mix bleach

or chlorine or chemical cleaners to your household cleaners as you could cause harmful gases.

 

When you are experimenting with your household cleaners, be sure not to mix vinegar and ammonia or you will be wasting your time and money because these

two will cancel each other out in cleaning performance.

 

Glue

To make your own glue here is a quick recipe: Use one box of gelatin, clear will look best on materials or paper, three tablespoons of vinegar, three tablespoons

of water, and one teaspoon of glycerin. You can melt the gelatin in a pan with the water on very low heat. Adding the other ingredients and stirring all

the time, you have easily made glue! You do have to apply this glue while it is warm for best results. You can also store this mixture in a sealed container

that you can reheat in the microwave when you need a little more.

 

Homemade Fabric Softener:

Mix this together and wrap in a piece of fabric to use in your dryer for great smelling and static free clothes: Use one half cup of baking soda, two tablespoons

of cornstarch, and three drops of your favorite aroma oil.

 

Homemade Bleach:

One cup of hydrogen peroxide, three tablespoons of lemon juice, and ten cups of water, you can store this mixture for up to three months if you don’t use

it all at one time.

 

Homemade Automobile Wax

Using two cups of carnauba wax, melt in two cups of beeswax, and one half cup of olive oil. You will apply this to your auto as you would any other wax

and then buff off for a great shine and protection that you can count on.

 

Homemade Skunk Odor Control

If your pet has had a run in with a skunk you can take back the smell that your pet has gotten into by using, one quarter cup of dish soap, two cups of

vinegar, one cup of lemon juice, and two cups of baking soda. Mixing this all together and applying over your entire dog or cat when they are wet, let

them sit there for about five minutes and then rinse with warm water for a great skunk relief.

 

A Cleaner Used throughout the Home

Mix together - one half cup of ammonia, one half cup of vinegar, and one quarter cup of baking soda in a half gallon of water, put this in spray bottles

that you can use throughout the home for everyday cleaning.

 

Kitchen Cleaner

Mix together – one-quarter cup of baking soda, two-thirds cup of vinegar, and three quarter cup of ammonia in a gallon of water. You can store this mixture

for up to three months in a spray bottle. This is a strong smelling grease cutter that will help you in your daily cleaning in the kitchen.

 

Bathroom Cleaner

Combining a quarter cup of baking soda and a quarter cup of water makes a great cleaner for your toilet, this paste will take stains off of the porcelain.

Another great bathroom cleaner that you can use daily for cleaning is a mixture of two cups of baking soda, one half cup of dish soap, a cup of water,

and a half cup of vinegar. Mixing this thoroughly you can use this to kill mildew and to cut soap scum

 

Cleaner for Painted Walls

Using one cup of vinegar, add to one half gallon of water. Keep this mixture in a spray bottle to clean your walls of dirt and grime as needed on a daily

or weekly basis. You can use this cleaner throughout your home.

 

Scrubbing Paste

A scouring powder that you can use throughout the home is a mixture of one half cup of baking soda, and one quarter cup of vinegar. Use this on surfaces

where you are not worried about scratches.

 

Simple Homemade Softener

Use one cup of vinegar and add two cups of baking soda and four cups of water to this mixture. Putting this in a plastic container with a lid, add about

one half cup to your rinse cycle of your wash for static free fresh clothes.

 

Oven Cleaner

Mixing together one cup of vinegar, one cup of borax, and one cup of baking soda, you can cut through tough stains using a souring pad and this paste.

 

Window Cleaner

For homemade window cleaner that looks store bought, use three tablespoons of vinegar, two drops of blue food coloring and three cups of water. Mix together

in a spray bottle and use as needed.

 

Carpet Cleaner

Mix together one tablespoon of vinegar, one tablespoon of ammonia and four cups of cold water. To clean spots in your carpet, simply spray on the stain,

dab and repeat as the stain lifts right out.

 

Vinyl Cleaner

A great mixture to keep your no wax floor clean is to use a tablespoon of dish soap, and a half-cup of vinegar to a gallon of hot water. Mop as usual and

the vinegar will bring the dirt right up.

 

Wood Floor Cleaner

Use three tablespoons of olive oil, one tablespoon of vinegar, and a teaspoon of lemon oil – clean with a soft cloth for a great shine. Increase the amounts

as needed if you have a very large area that you have to clean.

 

Hardwood Floor Cleaner

For cleaning a hardwood floor and to cover scratches at the same time, use a gallon of hot water, eight tea bags, four tablespoons of olive oil, and a soft

cloth. Using this mixture you can clean with a mop or on your hands and knees, wiping the entire floor leaving a great shine while you are covering scratches

at the same time.

 

Carpet Stain Remover

Use one-quarter cup of dish soap, a third cup of water and an eighth a cup of vinegar. Shaking this in a spray bottle, then spray on the stain and blot

up, repeat as needed to bring up the entire stain.

 

Save Those Sneakers

You can deodorize your shoes using this mixture: six tablespoons of cornstarch, three tablespoons of baking soda, twenty drops of lemon oil, twenty drops

of clove oil, and ten drops of rosemary oil. Mixing this together, and using any variety of oils that you like, rub this mixture in the soles and around

in the shoe, the odors in your shoes will be gone!

 

Carpet Freshener

Use one cup of baking soda and a half-cup of cornstarch and three drops of your favorite essential oil, sprinkle on the carpet, and let it sit overnight

then vacuum up for a fresh clean scent.

 

Aluminum Cleaner

To clean aluminum you can use one cup of tomato juice and a tablespoon of baking soda. Rubbing the mixture on let it dry for about an hour and then buff

clean. This is a shine that will also keep your piece beautiful.

 

Clean Wood Furniture

This is a great mixture that you can use on your hardwood furniture for weekly cleaning or for deep cleaning. Use 1/8 cup of linseed oil, 1/8 cup of vinegar

and ¼ cup of lemon juice. Apply to your wood with a soft cloth and allow it to dry for a great smelling shine.

 

Wood Furniture Cleaner

To darken scratches while cleaning your wood furniture use 1/8 cup of lemon juice and a ¼ cup of olive oil. Apply this mixture with a soft cloth.

 

Leather Cleaner

Clean your leather jackets and dresses with a quarter cup of olive oil and a teaspoon of lemon oil. Buffing your leathers with this mixture will remove

dirt and leave a soft shine as well.

 

Vinyl Cleaner

Your outside patio furniture, your vinyl couches and your vinyl chairs can be easily cleaned by using a mixture of one quarter cup of vinegar and one quarter

cup of vegetable oil and two cups of water. Keep this in a spray bottle and wipe on with a soft cloth for a great cleaner that you can use often.

 

Homemade Cleaner

For a cleaner that you can use throughout the home, mix together four tablespoons of baking soda in four cups of warm water. Use this cleaner throughout

the home for a great clean that will also deodorize.
