FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EDT TODAY
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of Maine, including the following counties,
Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln,
Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo and York and New Hampshire,
including the following counties, Rockingham and Strafford.
* WHEN...Until noon EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding of small streams and in low-lying and
poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 925 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain falling
over saturated ground. Additional rain will move in mid
morning. Minor flooding is expected to begin shortly in the
advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portland, Lewiston, Rochester, South Portland, Auburn,
Biddeford, Portsmouth, Brunswick, Augusta and Westbrook.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
