Storm Warning Update
Winter Storm Warning Statement as of 3:22 PM EDT on March 19, 2013
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until midnight EDT tonight.
* locations... areas along and just inland of the mid coast of
Maine.
* Hazard types... heavy snow.
* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 12 to 16 inches.
* Timing... snow will begin this morning and last through tonight.
* Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery.
Snowfall rates of one inch or more an hour are possible. Some
power outages are possible near the immediate coast in heavy...
wet snow. Some rain could mix in along the immediate coast
this afternoon.
* Winds... northeast 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* Temperatures... in the mid 20s.
* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow are forecast
that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If
you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
