Winter Weather Advisory Statement as of 3:42 am EST on February 8, 2015 Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 am EST Tuesday. The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow which is in effect until 6 am EST Tuesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect. * Hazard types... snow. * Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches. * Timing... snow will continue without much break through Monday night. * Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery. The additional snow will continue to add weight to any heavily snow covered roofs. * Winds... northeast 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. * Temperatures... 5 to 15 above.   Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving. Good morning Augusta. We are under yet another storm watch. Gas up the snowblower again. This morning it is mostly cloudy with a chance of snow in the afternoon. Fog early. High of 19F. Winds from the WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%. Tonight it will be overcast with a chance of snow. Low of 3F with a windchill as low as -6F. Winds from the North at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 50% with accumulations up to 2 in. possible.  The readings from my own weather instruments are: The humidity is 74% with a dew point of 1ºF , Temperature is 7.6ºF and a wind chill of  7.6ºF Our wind direction is NorthWest between 0.0 MPH and  1.0 MPH.  The Barometric pressure is 30.08 HPA 1018 and falling with a weather graphic indicating clouds. The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through late Monday night. * Hazard types... snow. * Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches over two days. * Timing... light snow will start Saturday night and continue without much break right through Monday. The heaviest snow is expected late Sunday into Monday night. * Impacts... roads will become snow covered and slippery. Additional snow will continue to add weight to any heavily snow- covered roofs. * Winds... northeast 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. * Temperatures... 5 to 20 above. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.  

Very cold, clear and wind chill explained

Good morning Augusta. Today is a very cold stay-at-home day for lower back pain treatments. I recommend a vibrating heating pad and Irish coffee. This morning it is partly cloudy in the morning, then clear. High of 12F. Winds less than 5 mph. Tonight it will be partly cloudy. Fog overnight. Low of 5F. Winds less than 5 mph. A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
