FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING.
* WHAT...Flooding of streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone
locations are occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess
runoff from earlier rainfall, so additional areas may flood
through this evening.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Maine, including the following counties, in south central Maine, Kennebec and Sagadahoc. In southwest Maine, Androscoggin, Cumberland and York.
* WHEN...Until 10:00 PM EDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not
be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from
these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban
areas. Small stream flooding will continue through this evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1:40 PM EDT, Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen,
with an additional inch possible through this evening.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portland, Lewiston, South Portland, Auburn, Biddeford, Brunswick, Augusta, Westbrook, Bath and Gardiner.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
