Areal Flood Warning Statement as of 11:38 am EDT on September 30, 2015

The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued a

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in-

 Sagadahoc County in south central Maine...

 central Lincoln County in south central Maine...

 southern Kennebec County in south central Maine (This is us)...

 southeastern Androscoggin County in southwestern Maine...

 northeastern York County in southwestern Maine...

 central Cumberland County in southwestern Maine...

* until 330 PM EDT

* at 1133 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain in the greater

Portland area. Rainfall amounts are in the 3 to 5 inch range. An

additional 1 inch of rain is possible. Urban flooding is also

likely in poor drainage locations.

 

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in

urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other

poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel

across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few

inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
