A real Flood Advisory is now in effect

The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Somerset County in west central Maine...
north central Kennebec County in south central Maine...
* until 615 PM EDT
* at 415 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms traveling over the same areas. This will cause Urban
and Small Stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches
of rain have already fallen in some spots with up to another inch
possible. The heaviest rain thus far has been in the
Smithfield... Fairfield... and Skowhegan areas.

Waterville... Fairfield... Skowhegan... Oakland... Pittsfield...
Madison... Clinton... Belgrade... Norridgewock... Benton... Canaan...
Hartland... Cornville... Athens... Harmony... Parkman... Brighton
Plantation... Winslow... Rome and Ripley.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
