Did we get a blizzard as it's defined?

We didn’t quite make it to be an official blizzard today , but it’s close. What exactly is a “Blizzard?” By Jeff Smith and Mike Bencivenga, Jamie Nguyen NEW YORK (WABC) – A blizzard is a snowstorm on steroids. The term blizzard may be tossed around casually, but to officially qualify as a blizzard, a storm has to meet the following three criteria: 1. Sustained wind or frequent gusts of 35mph or greater. 2. Considerable falling and/or blowing snow reducing visibility to under a quarter mile. 3. These conditions have to continue for at least three consecutive hours!

National Weather Service Gray ME 3:51 AM EST Sun Jan 22 2023 WIDESPREAD MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL TONIGHT INTO MONDAY. The next system in the ongoing active weather pattern is forecast to pass through southern New England tonight before exiting through the Gulf of Maine on Monday. This will bring another round of snowfall to the region. Heaviest snowfall rates are expected to be overnight tonight into Monday morning, with travel impacts expected for the morning commute. With snow expected to last into the late afternoon and early evening hours, travel may also be slick for the evening commute. Snow may be wet and sticky, which may increase power outage risk.
