Flood advisory

Statement as of 5:06 PM EDT on August 12, 2012
The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued an
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for minor flooding of poor
drainage areas in...
southern Androscoggin County in southwest Maine...
southwestern Kennebec County in south central Maine...
central Cumberland County in Maine...
* until 700 PM EDT
* at 502 PM EDT slow moving thunderstorms were producing very heavy
rainfall from near Lewiston... southwest towards Sebago Lake. These
thunderstorms will slowly move eastward over the next couple of
hours. National Weather Service Doppler radar indicates rainfall
rates of 1 or more inches an hour at times. This will lead to minor
flooding and ponding of water on roadways with poor drainage.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Please report high water to the National Weather Service by calling
toll free... 1-877-633-6772... when you can do so safely.
