Winter Weather Advisory

Statement as of 2:55 PM EST on January 5, 2014

Winter Weather Advisory now in effect from 9 PM this evening

to 10 am EST Monday...

* hazard types... snow... sleet and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of up to 1 inch... along with

around one quarter of an inch of ice.

* Timing... precipitation will move into New Hampshire this

evening and will overspread western Maine before midnight.

* Impacts... slick roads making travel hazardous. Scattered power

outages are possible especially in areas that still have ice

on the trees from the ice storm.

* Temperatures... in the upper 20s... but slowly climbing through

the night.

* Visibilities... areas of fog will cause the visibility to drop

down to a half mile at times late tonight and early Monday.

 

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or

freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for

slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while

driving.
